Proceeds To Go to Scholarship Fund Benefitting Cal Maritime Students
Members of Transmarine Navigation Corporation – a leading U.S. tramp agency with offices in a dozen port cities along the Gulf Coast, West Coast, and Hawaii – recently attended in the annual Dave Lyman Scholarship Fundraising dinner.
Proceeds from the event, held June 17 in Honolulu aboard the Golden Bear training vessel, will be donated to the Dave Lyman Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides a full academic scholarship for at least one Cal Maritime student each year.
Managing Director Leslie Clements attended the event, alongside members of Transmarine’s Honolulu team.“We’re thrilled to have participated in this annual fundraising event,” said Clements. “We will continue to support Cal Maritime in any way we can to help ensure the future success of our industry.”
Transmarine recruits heavily from Cal Maritime, and currently more than half of Transmarine’s staff are Cal Maritime alumni.
The Captain David Lyman Endowed Scholarship seeks to honor the memory of Captain Lyman (Cal Maritime Class of 1965, Deck) as a longtime member of Hawaii’s maritime community by providing financial incentive for Hawaii students to apply to and enroll at the California Maritime Academy and pursue a profession in the maritime field.
