In this Employee Spotlight, get to know Director of Operations Ian Mantha, who works out of our Bellingham, Washington, office. Read below to learn about Ian!
How long have you worked at Transmarine? I’ve been with Transmarine now for 17 years.
What’s something you enjoy about your job at Transmarine? I love working in such a supportive team environment. I have fallen in love with the maritime industry through Transmarine. Steeped in history, the industry also must keep looking to the future. As vessel agents, what we do locally has global impact. For instance, it’s amazing to know that helping coordinate the loading of petroleum onto a vessel here in the Pacific Northwest will help heat homes in Asia.
How would your coworkers describe you? I would hope they see me as an approachable person, who listens more than they talk.
Tell us about an exciting or interesting project you worked on at Transmarine. Every port call has the potential to turn into an exciting project. No two port calls are the same, and each represents a unique story when it’s all said and done. In my current role, I’m excited for the opportunity to continue fostering our supportive team environment. My goal is to add to the quality of each team members’ lives just like those who came before did for me.
How long have you worked in the industry? 17 years. My first exposure to the industry was as a Transmarine vessel manager.
What is your professional background before you started work at Transmarine? Before signing on with Transmarine, I worked in retail management.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I love collecting jazz vinyl! Bop & Cool -era stuff mostly.
